Click the arrow to scroll. At Clé Millet, the Parisian architecture firm, the team competes to work on some of Europe's most iconic cultural buildings, especially theaters. To design these projects, they must participate in tenders from the French Ministry of Culture and win them. Such architectural tenders require efficiency, ingenuity and creativity. In France, the Ministry of Culture is responsible for looking after the development and conservation of the type of cultural buildings in which the Clé Millet company specializes. The Ministry is a government entity whose objectives have their roots in the period before the Revolution. French leadership has been inspired by Renaissance courts and the key role of royalty in fostering culture to patronize artists and artitself for centuries. Charles de Gaulle created the modern Ministry in to establish the "rights to culture" of French citizens. Currently, buildings recognized as cultural heritage are in charge of the Ministry of Culture. Since they are properties facing the public, the ministry must publish tenders in order to choose the best team for the job. Design bidders face challenges that go beyond trying to outdo other teams with more beautiful designs. The documentation of a building does not always evolve with its extensions or renovations. This can lead to conflicting information and outdated, incomplete, or inaccurate reference materials. A good example of this incomplete documentation was the tender to remodel the National Theater of Chaillot. The theater was built between and and is a complex underground building with multiple spaces and rooms, for which the company Clé Millet received floor plans and some section cuts. When Paul began building a D model, the team concluded that the submitted plans did not accurately represent the building. However, Paul had a tool that helped him build an accurate picture of how the building worked, despite the flaws in the plans: SketchUp. "Constructing the object in D will help us understand that, 'well, on that floor, that specific element will be more structural because there is something else on top of it.
